Chris Wojahn and World Renowned Violin Virtuoso Midori, at the Melbourne Chamber Music Society circa 2012
Christopher William Paul Wojahn is a professional freelance violinist and dedicated music educator based in Central Florida. A 2014 graduate of the University of Central Florida (UCF), he earned his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Ayako Yonetani and continued refining his artistry through private instruction with Dr. Chung Park. With an extensive tenure in the UCF Symphony and Chamber Orchestras spanning 11 years (2011–2023), Chris cultivated a deep connection to orchestral performance both as a student and alumnus.
Chris’s musical journey began in Brevard County, Florida, where he discovered his passion for the violin at age 11. Originally starting on the cello, he made the switch to violin simply because, as he puts it, “I rode the bus to school.” He studied with Linda Miltenberger Utz before joining the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra under Joseph Kreines during his final two years of high school. His formal music education began at Eastern Florida State College (formerly Brevard Community College), where he studied with Amy Jevitt, served as Concertmaster and Assistant Concertmaster of the college orchestras, and explored music composition under Dr. Chan Ji Kim (EFSC) and Dr. Thad Anderson (UCF).
Chris has participated in masterclasses with world-renowned violinists including Midori, Ronald Lantz, Rebecca Lauter, Jonathan Schwartz, Gil Shaham, Glenn Dicterow, and Iuri Lee (Assistant Principal Second Violin of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra). In February 2023, he studied with Giora Schmidt through tonebase Violin’s Mentorship Program. He continues his artistic development with renowned violinist and Primal Alexander Technique teacher Jennifer Roig-Francoli through her online program, The Art of Freedom, and is currently studying privately with Dr. Lynn Kuo, furthering his commitment to both performance and pedagogy.
With a performance career spanning over a decade, Chris has collaborated with numerous ensembles, church groups, and pit orchestras for musicals at historic playhouses in Cocoa Village and Titusville. He frequently performs at weddings and private events, often substituting with Classern Quartet. Notably, he performed alongside the band KANSAS with the UCFSO on their National Collegiate Symphony Tour. His orchestral solo debut was with the UCF Chamber Orchestra, performing Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in E Major, and in April 2023, he performed Respighi’s Pines of Rome with the UCFSO at the renowned Steinmetz Hall under Eric Jacobsen, conductor of the Orlando Philharmonic and Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
As an educator, “Mr. Chris” brings over seven years of teaching experience, guiding students to success in auditions for ensembles like the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras (FSYO), performing arts magnet school programs, and Orange County All-County Orchestras. He was also part of the A Gift for Music program, providing violin instruction to Title 1 elementary schools. His teaching philosophy centers on making music accessible to all, believing in its transformative power regardless of age or background.
Beyond performance and teaching, Chris’s interests extend to conducting, composition, and music history, particularly in Baroque and contemporary music. His dedication to the arts and education is evident in his diverse musical pursuits and his passion for sharing music with students and audiences alike.
